Winter skin
Winter can be harsh on skin causing severe dryness, itchiness or flakiness. It doesn’t have to be that way throughout the colder months with a consistent routine and perhaps richer products to add moisture back into parched skin.
Moisturize consistently using a rich, hydrating cream to protect the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss in cold, windy weather. Add nourishing Almond or Apricot oil to your shower routine as a last step after washing to add extra nourishment to skin.
Use a gentle cleanser to avoid stripping natural oils from the skin, follow with good quality sheets masks before applying your skin care.
Apply sunscreen daily, UV rays can still damage the skin even during winter and for the ski bunnies snow glare can intensify exposure.
Incorporate a humidifier in indoor spaces to add moisture to the air and prevent skin from drying out.
Exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells and allow moisturizers to penetrate more effectively. Invest in a dry body brush to gentle remove dead skin with the added health benefit of gentle lymphatic drainage.
Protect hands and lips with hydrating balms and creams, these areas are prone to dryness and cracking during winter.
Add Hyaluronic Acid serums or products to your daily skincare for face and body routine.
My personal favorite winter selfcare activity is an Infrared Sauna to sweat out toxins each week and boost that skin glow!
